Wine production
The family farm received from the current Mr. Messina from his father, from generation to generation, was mainly devoted to the production of two crops: wine grapes and durum wheat.
The Italian and Community agricultural policy of the two thousand years, has meant that almost all the existing companies in the territory, planted vines of French origin, replacing our native, who were much stronger and resistant to climate change than the new ones, and that they produced abundant quantities of grapes, almost three times as much.
In the 2009-2010 agricultural campaign, the current owner personally supervised the construction, bottling and sale of two types of quality wine (IGT Sicilia), such as Grillo and Syrah, which have achieved great success in the local area.
In the years 2015-16, wanting to relaunch their company Mr. Messina, converts the varieties then present, in the current autochthonous, in order to restore the lost territorial identity and the typicality of the products that having originated on site retain all the characteristics that distinguish them for the ultimate purpose of producing and bottling DOC wines or I.G.P. Sicilia.
Currently the vineyard is extended for an area of about 54,000 square meters and will soon be in production;
The plant is divided into three indigenous varieties:
No. 8500 Grillo screws
No. 4700 Inzolia or Ansonica screws
No. 6800 Nero D’Avola screws.
